Storing Cashmere

When To Store?

Cashmere is an incredibly breathable and versatile fibre that, depending on the weight of the yarn, can be enjoyed year-round. On cool summer nights, it's the perfect time to grab a cashmere shawl or cardigan and wrap yourself in that extra layer of warmth.

However, when the weather warms up, you can tuck away your heavier cashmere garments for the season, ensuring they stay in great condition until the colder months return.

Protect it.

Ever wonder why moth holes tend to appear on the front and wrist areas of your sweaters?

While it's true that moths are attracted to natural fibers, what they really love are the food remnants from spills, sweat, and body oils left behind after wearing.

To keep your garments moth-free year round, our motto is: “Only put clean clothes in a clean closet”.

Additionally, steam-ironing your cashmere before de-pilling helps relax the fibers, making it easier to remove any pills.

What To store your Cashmere in?

To store your cashmere properly, use breathable storage options that protect it from moisture, heat, and pests. Here are some great choices:

  1. Breathable Fabric Bags: Zippered fabric bags are ideal, as they allow air circulation while keeping dust and dirt away.

  2. Cloth Bins: A cloth bin offers breathable storage while keeping your cashmere neatly organized.

  3. Drawer or Closet Shelf: Storing cashmere in a drawer or on a closet shelf is also a good option as long as it’s in a cool, dry place.

  4. Avoid Plastic Containers: Plastic bins trap moisture and heat, which can damage the fibers over time.

Remember to keep your cashmere out of direct sunlight to avoid yellowing, in a dry space to prevent mildew, and in a clean environment to protect against moths.
